Visit Orange with Campervan Hire Sydney, across the Blue Mountains and West onto the Liverpool Plains. Besides being a pretty drive Orange is a handy place to go for a visit or a holiday. Orange isn’t essentially Orange and it doesn't grow oranges either, but it does grow apples.
There’s plenty to do and see in Orange, particularly in autumn. One of the reasons this is a good time to go to, is that the weather is cooling off a bit and the yearly Orange Food Festival is on. There’s lots of local wine and food to be enjoyed, and it's of gourmand quality. During this time regional produce food and drink is displayed in all its glory and is just waiting for visitors to come along to drink and eat it. There are a good deal of things to do and see in and around Orange also.
If you enjoy the caves there are lots to see, for example the Abercrombie Caves, the Wellington Caves and the Borenore Caves. Make sure you manage to get to the Abercrombie Caves because they have the largest natural Archway in the southern hemisphere. Under the Archway you can see the goldminers dance platform which is over 120 years in age. Other things worth doing include walking the Orange Heritage Trail, which should supply you with a good high level view of the history of the town.
There also are some beautiful parks and gardens to take a look at along with a trip to one of the old goldmines close by. Some of these include the Gunner Do Goldmine, Drs Hill and Ophir Road mines. Stay for a couple of days and enjoy all of the city has to offer, including bush-walking, fishing and exploring.
You could maybe try panning for gold and if you are fortunate, you may have something to take home from your vacation. Even if you don't, you'll enjoy visiting Orange, whether or not it grows apples.
